Surrounded by ancient established hedgerow and 200-year-old Oak trees, the five acre campsite is notably spacious, while also providing a cosy feeling of security during your visit.
Families often comment how lovely it is being able to relax and keep an eye, while their children play freely around the spacious field knowing they are safely enclosed within its boundaries.
With south facing views that extend for miles over the ‘haunted’ Dering Woods, vacationers are often treated to some of the most stunning sunsets, which turn the sky all shades of gorgeous reds, purples, oranges and pinks.
As you enter Gooseberry Field a gravel track leads you nicely past the cider orchard – with a wide variety of apple, pear and plum trees – planted by John & Kerstin in 2017 and now producing a natural fresh heritage cider to be enjoyed in the sunshine. To the left of the track you will find the pig field, used each year to rear rare breed pigs for sausages and organic pork and just before you reach the camping meadow, there is a newly established vineyard with grape varieties such as Ortega, Muscat and Reisling, maturing nicely.
Set within the camping meadow are seven spaciously pitched glamping bell tents and an Airstream trailer, each with it’s own picnic table, deck chairs, wine caddy and individual fire pit & BBQ.
On either side of the meadow there are two wood-fired hot tubs for an added touch of luxury and relaxation, both for exclusive use with the ‘VIP’ glamping bell tent and Airstream.
Furthermore there’s a central fire pit, which is often used when hosting exclusive hen do bookings or retreats and it is the perfect place to come together around a warm campfire under the stars at the end of the day together around a warm camp fire under the stars.
At the top of the track is a turning circle, which doubles up perfectly as a petangue circle, also known as French Boules. A communal terrace with sheltered food prep area is the heart of the glamping field where holidaymakers can relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the views or make use of the Argentinian Grill BBQ and traditional hot smoker. Additionally it is home to the wood-fired pizza oven, herb garden, washing up facilities and outdoor fridge.
Next to the terrace is ‘The Barn’ fitted with solar panels and the facility block with a flushing toilet and two spacious hot showers, each providing plenty of room for an adult and two children. The Barn is a stylish newly renovated space and comes to good use especially when it rains. There are four long tables with chairs, some games and plenty of electricity sockets in case of the need to charge devices.
With plans of one day being self-sufficient and taking active steps each year towards sustainable living you will also find located within the glamping site, a recycling area, a vegetable garden, fruit bushes included the famous gooseberry bushes, the poly tunnel, chickens, three eco toilets and an outdoor hot water shower.
Gooseberry Field Glamping has a strict no smoking and no drug policy and for the comfort of all guests and neighbors we request that all noise is reduced to quiet chitchat after 21:00 each evening.
