What time is check-in and check-out?
Check-in is between 15:00 and 19:00; check-out is between 08:00 and 11:00.
Can we check-in / check-out early and/or late?
Arrival and departure times are important to enable us sufficient time to prepare our site between bookings. We therefore request that all guests respect these times.
How many people can stay in each bell tent?
Each 5 meter bell tent comes with 1 double bed and 2 single beds and has capacity to sleep a maximum of 4 people.
We are a family of five; can an extra bed be added?
Subject to overall site capacity and prior approval it is possible to add a foam mattress (suitable only for children aged 9 and under) in order to accommodate families of 5. Please contact us directly prior to making a booking to confirm availability.
Do you provide travel cots?
Travel cots are not available but if you would like to bring your own simply let us know and we will set up your bell tent to accommodate the correct space for this.
Can we pitch our own tent?
Our glamping site consists of seven 5 meter luxury bell tents and an Airstream trailer. Pitching of additional tents and the use of campervans is not permitted.
Can we bring a gazebo?
In certain circumstances, such as when the weather forecast is particularly warm and sunny and not stormy, we allow you to bring your gazebo. Please check first with us.
Can we have visitors?
Occasionally we allow day visitors with prior approval and pre payment of the day visitor fee.
What’s included in our stay?
Most things other than food/drink and clothes/toiletries are provided. On our website at the section ‘What’s included’ on the campsite page you can find a detailed list of what’s included.
What should I bring?
Food & drinks or shop locally, shoes that you can easily slide in and out and wellington boots in case of rain, warm nightwear if staying in the cooler months, layers generally is a good idea when camping & glamping, a sun hat, sun cream, toiletries and a torch for that nightly trip to the bathroom. Perhaps a good book!
What about food?
A breakfast hamper with local produce can be added to the booking up to 3 days up front. Other than that, please bring your own food or you can shop locally at the farm shop that’s very close to the campsite (see shop FAQ).
You will be provided with a cooling box & ice packs that can be kept at the glamping unit and at the terrace there’s a communal fridge.
Do you allow group bookings or exclusive hire of the whole site?
We do take a limited amount of retreat and hen-do bookings on an exclusive base. Please enquire via email.
Is Wi-Fi available on site?
We encourage our guests to embrace the luxury of being offline and connected with nature instead and therefore we do not provide a Wi-Fi service.
Is there anywhere to charge our phones and other devices?
Power points are available to use on our terrace area.
Is there anywhere to plug in and use a hairdryer?
Power points are available to use on our terrace area.
Can we bring our dog?
For the comfort of all our guests, resident chickens and pigs, we do not allow dogs.
How do we book the hot tub?
A private wood fired hot tub is included when booking Urban Aztec bell tent or the Airstream. For a weekend stay it will be heated (by the campsite manager) on the Saturday between 15:00ish in the afternoon and 20:00 in the evening.
What measures do you have in place to reduce the spread of Covid-19?

Where are the closest shops?
Pluckley Farm Shop is at a few 100 meters distance as you turn to the right, leaving the campsite. They are open seven days a week and are passionate about local produce.
If you turn to the left as you leave the campsite and drive up the hill and turn into ‘The Street’ at your right hand side, you will find Pluckley Butchers and Cass Convenience Store.
Are there any pubs nearby?
The Rose & Crown is at 25-minute walking distance via footpaths through the fields. Other local pubs are Dering Arms near Pluckley Station and The Swann Inn in Little Chart. We recommend booking in advance. (I would like to link to those venues)
Where can I park?
You can park temporarily next to your glamping unit to load and unload your car. Afterwards vehicles need to be parked at the parking area near the entrance.
Can we bring our own disposable bbq or own wood for the campfire and what about charcoal?
At your glamping unit there’s a sturdy fire pit/bbq, which is included in your glamping package. For fire safety reasons, disposable bbq’s are prohibited at our site.
You may bring your own charcoal. For fire safety reasons all firewood must be purchased on site. (All our fire wood is well seasoned hardwood). The first complimentary basket of logs is free of charge and ready upon arrival.
Can we smoke or vape?
Smoking and vaping are prohibited at the glamping site.
Is there a fridge?
There’s a cooling box available to use at your glamping unit and we will keep you supplied with cooling packs throughout your stay. Additionally you can make use of the communal fridge at the campsite terrace, which is accessible at all times (Covid-19 rules permitting).
What is your environmental policy?
Gooseberry Field is an ecofriendly campsite and sustainability is a biggie for us. There’s a recycle station, we make use of solar panels onsite there are three composting loos. Vegetables and fruit are grown organically. All crockery is provided and we discourage you from bringing single use disposable items. The tap water is suitable to drink and bringing reusable water battles is encouraged. Please don’t bring disposable plastic water bottles to site.
Can I book more than one tent?
A maximum of two glamping accommodations can be booked together. Please enquire first before booking.
What sort of facilities do you have?
There are two showers, one flushing loo and three composting toilets and two washing up basins. There isn’t electricity at the glamping units, except for the Airstream. Electricity sockets at the campsite terrace can be used to charge devices.
Are the tents heated?
The bell tents aren’t heated. A 13,5 tog duvet is provides as well as extra blankets. For the chillier months in the season we advice to bring thermal sleepwear.
Can we come and go off the site?
The campsite gate opens at 08:00 in the morning and closes at 22:00 in the evening. If somehow you need to leave the campsite between these times because of an emergency, please do contact our campsite manager.
When are you open?
Our season starts the first Bank Holiday in May and ends the second weekend of September. Availability for individual bookings can be found on our online booking system.
