Our Story
How it all started…
Wanting a change from the noise and pollution of city life, Kerstin and John dreamed of escaping London in favor of a simpler, more relaxed way of life with eggs from their own chickens, vegetables fresh from the garden and open fires under a starry night sky. It was in 2013 along with their young son Jenson they finally took the plunge, escaped from the rat race, swopped city living for a small Kent village and the next year Gooseberry Field was born.
“When we lived in London we found it difficult to find places close by where we could escape for a weekend away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Somewhere we could unplug and relax with a nice bottle of wine and a cosy campfire in the great outdoors.
That was when the idea started to open up our own campsite business in the beautiful countryside of Kent, providing the things we were looking for but at a fair price and close enough to London to avoid long car journeys and hours stuck in traffic.
From our initial early idea we now offer stylish and comfy glamping accommodation, grow our own veg and fruit, raise our own pigs and produce our own cider and wine from the orchard and vineyard that we planted in our first year.
Our lives are very different from when we both had jobs in the city. We still work hard and life seems just as busy, but now it’s a much more rewarding and satisfying way of life.
We love being able to share our little piece of paradise with our clients and to help create unforgettable memories for them too.
Why not come and see for yourself, get away from it all, unplug, relax, reconnect with friends & family and join us for a few days of luxury camping at Gooseberry Field Glamping in Kent. “

Announcement
It seems a lifetime away that we left City life for a new adventure in the countryside and set up our own little slice of heaven in the Garden of England.
Every year there have been little tweaks, add ons and improvements. Recently we have been granted permission to build a new facilities barn for Gooseberry Field which we are massively excited about. This new building will allow us to improve all aspects of the Gooseberry Field experience. New toilets, showers and washing up basins, a reception area and better facilities for our small holding produce will all be included. However with timings it’s going to be challenging to get the building works finished by next season so the difficult decision has been taken to do a ‘Glastonbury’ or in other words, close for a season and come back even more fabulous in 2023.
We want thank every single client from the last seven seasons for staying here and we are very sorry to disappoint if you were intending to stay next summer but we promise we will be back with a bang in 2023!
Keep an eye on our Instagram feed to follow developments and improvements and to keep an eye out for @gooseberryfield_supperclub dates for 2022.
